History
Known since the 10 th century the land of Vourvourioi ( this was the resident’s name then), was given as a monastery dependency to the Holy monastery of Xenofon in Agio Oros during the Byzantine empire . In 1615, the masters of the area were the residents of Agios Nikolaos. At the end of the 19 th century the Holy monastery of Simon Petras arbitrarily sold the area to Russian monks, whom the residents of Agios Nikolaos banished. Since then, the Russians were never interested again in the area and the residents of Agios Nikolaos remained always the masters of the land.
